Pompano Beach Condo and HOA Trash Cleaning: Carts, Dumpsters and Trash Rooms

Pompano Beach condo and HOA trash cleaning: the City's twice-weekly collection rules, why shared carts and dumpsters stay dirty, and one contract for all.

Business & rentals5 min read

Pompano Beach condo and HOA trash cleaning covers the containers a building or association shares: the gray carts the City of Pompano Beach provides, the dumpsters behind beach condos and multi-family buildings, and the trash rooms and enclosures they stand in. The collector empties them at least twice a week; nobody washes them. An association can have all of them cleaned on one schedule.

How does garbage collection work in Pompano Beach, Florida?

Garbage collection in Pompano Beach, Florida runs on twice-weekly service: residential properties get garbage collection twice a week, and multi-family properties of four or more units must have collection at least twice a week, according to the City's Garbage Collection page. The City's contractor, Coastal Waste & Recycling, services the carts.

The rules the City publishes:

  • The carts. Everything goes in the gray carts provided by the City, with the lids closed. Material outside the carts is not collected, and a full cart must weigh less than 150 pounds.
  • The set-out. Carts may go to the curb after 5:00 p.m. the evening before collection day and must be out before 7:00 a.m. on collection day.
  • Multi-family buildings. All garbage must be placed inside the container. The type, number, size and placement of containers are agreed between the property and the collector.
  • Dumpsters. Commercial accounts on dumpsters can be collected up to seven days a week, and their containers must be stored inside the building or in an approved dumpster enclosure.
  • Holidays. Collection runs every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas. A cart due on one of those days is serviced on the next scheduled day, with no make-up day.

Why do shared carts and dumpsters in Pompano Beach condos stay so dirty?

Shared carts and dumpsters in Pompano Beach condos and HOA communities stay dirty because many households fill the same containers, the containers are never empty for long, and no single resident owns them. Collection removes the bags, but the residue on the walls and the liquid in the base stay behind every time.

  1. 01No dry spell. A shared container starts refilling within hours of being emptied, so each layer of residue lands on the last before it can dry.
  2. 02No owner. Every resident assumes the association looks after the carts, so nobody scrubs them.
  3. 03More leaks. More bags means more torn bags and more liquid pooling in the bottom, which the truck never tips out.

Pompano Beach adds two local conditions. East of Federal Highway, near the beach and the Hillsboro Inlet, salt air works on cart hinges and axles. Across the city, South Florida's summer rain stands in low enclosures, and a closed container holding warm water and food residue is where flies, roaches and mosquitoes breed. Our guide to dumpster pad smells at apartment complexes explains where the odour actually comes from.

Can a Pompano Beach condo association or HOA hire one company to clean every container?

Yes. A Pompano Beach condo association, HOA or property manager can contract The BinFather for the whole property, so every cart, dumpster and trash room is cleaned on the same schedule. We work on the property's collection day, once the truck has emptied the containers, and bill the association or management company rather than each owner.

  1. 01One agreement, one invoice. Commercial work starts at $99, and the price changes with how many carts and containers there are, their size and how often they are cleaned.
  2. 02One route day. Units in one community share collection days, so the whole property is done in one visit.
  3. 03Nothing left behind. We bring our own heated water. The dirty water goes into a collection tank on our truck or trailer — nothing is left on your property.

Owners of single-family homes in Pompano Beach, in neighbourhoods such as Old Pompano, Cresthaven and Hillsboro Shores, can book their own carts on our household plans, listed on the pricing page: $15 a bin, 2-bin minimum — $30 a visit on the monthly plan, a one-year plan paid $30 a month or $324 up front (10% off the $360), or $65 for a one-time clean. Our Pompano Beach page covers individual homes.

How are Pompano Beach condo trash rooms and dumpster enclosures cleaned?

Pompano Beach condo trash rooms and dumpster enclosures are cleaned as commercial sites: the room or enclosure, the containers in it and the floor or pad they stand on, on a schedule the association or property manager sets. The work is planned around the building's collection days so the containers are empty when we arrive.

The chute shaft and the compactor are specialist work and stay outside what we do; our guide to trash chute rooms in South Florida condos explains where that line sits, and our commercial and HOA cleaning service explains how a building's job is scoped.

How often should a Pompano Beach condo or HOA have its trash containers cleaned?

A Pompano Beach condo or HOA usually needs its shared trash containers cleaned more often than a single-family home's cart, because they serve many households and refill continuously. Monthly is a sensible starting point for shared carts and dumpsters; buildings with heavy food waste, a hot enclosure or recurring pest complaints often need a shorter interval.

The schedule depends on how many units share each container, whether it stands on a sun-baked pad or in an unventilated room, the season (South Florida's hot, wet months from late spring to autumn are the hardest), and whether smell, flies or roaches near the enclosure say the current interval is too long.

What should a Pompano Beach board check before setting up community trash cleaning?

A Pompano Beach board or property manager should first check what containers the property uses, what its governing documents say, how many containers there are and which collection days apply. Those four answers decide what gets cleaned, what it costs and when the visit falls.

  1. 01The containers. Individual gray carts, shared carts, dumpsters in an enclosure, a trash room, or a mix.
  2. 02The governing documents. Search the declaration for "refuse", "receptacle" and "common expense". Our guide to HOA trash bin rules in Florida covers the usual wording.
  3. 03The count. The number of carts and containers is what the price is built on.
  4. 04The collection days. Check the City's collection map, or the schedule agreed with the collector for a multi-family building.

The short version

  • Pompano Beach collects residential garbage twice a week, and multi-family buildings must have collection at least twice a week, through the City's contractor, Coastal Waste & Recycling.
  • Shared carts and dumpsters in condo and HOA communities refill constantly, have no single owner and get the dirtiest, with salt air and summer rain making it worse.
  • One association or management contract covers every cart, dumpster and trash room on collection day, starting at $99.
  • The chute shaft and compactor are specialist work; we clean the room, the containers and the pad.
