Trash room and dumpster cleaning in Hollywood, Florida is the building's job, not the city's or the hauler's. The City of Hollywood code says dumpsters and their enclosures must be cleaned after each collection to prevent odors, and that city-issued carts must be kept clean by the owner after they are emptied. The BinFather does that cleaning for Hollywood condo buildings and HOA communities.
That covers the beach condos along A1A and the Broadwalk, the older mid-rises around Young Circle, and the townhouse and HOA communities further west. Every rule below comes from Chapter 50 of the Hollywood Code of Ordinances, the city's solid waste chapter.

Who collects the garbage from Hollywood condo buildings?
A private hauler the building hires collects the garbage from most Hollywood condo buildings, not the city. Under § 50.02(A)(2) of the Hollywood code, every multiple dwelling structure of more than two units, and every business, must provide for its own refuse collection and container, unless the landlord provides for the whole property.
Homes that do not use a dumpster store their garbage in a cart issued by the city, under § 50.02(A)(1). In a townhouse community that keeps individual carts, that is usually what each owner has at the curb.
Who is responsible for cleaning a condo dumpster in Hollywood, Florida?
The building is responsible. § 50.02(B)(3)(g) of the Hollywood code says, in plain words, that "enclosures and dumpsters shall be cleaned after each collection service to prevent noxious odors and unsanitary conditions from occurring."
The hauler's truck empties the container; it does not wash it. In a condominium, the duty in practice falls to the association and its property manager. Our post on who cleans a shared cart bank walks through how boards usually sort that out.
Who has to clean the trash carts in a Hollywood townhouse HOA?
The owner of each cart is responsible for cleaning it. Hollywood's code says the owner or occupant must keep a city-issued receptacle clean (§ 50.02(A)(1)(a)), and that each garbage receptacle "shall be kept clean and odor free by the owner after it has been emptied by the garbage collector" (§ 50.02(F)).
In a townhouse HOA that means one dirty cart is one owner's problem, but a row of them is the whole community's. Flies and roaches do not respect lot lines. That is why many boards choose one community-wide contract that covers every cart on the same visit, instead of leaving it to each household. Our guide to HOA townhouse community trash can cleaning explains how that kind of contract works.
What does Hollywood require of a dumpster enclosure?
Hollywood requires every dumpster to sit inside an approved on-site enclosure, built with a building permit, except when it is out in the right-of-way for collection. The enclosure must stand 12 inches taller than the highest part of any container in it, under § 50.02(B)(3).
The maintenance rules in § 50.02(B)(3)(g), in short:
- The enclosure kept in good condition and appearance at all times.
- Gates and latches working, and gates closed except during scheduled collection.
- Dumpsters and enclosures cleaned after each collection.
- Pads and access drives repaired or rebuilt when the pavement breaks down.
- Dumpster lids closed except during collection, and never overflowing.
- Lids and wheels kept in working order.
- No furniture or major appliances dumped in or around the enclosure outside a scheduled bulk pickup.
What happens if a Hollywood building ignores the dumpster rules?
A Hollywood building that ignores the dumpster rules can be ordered to fix the problem at its own expense. Under § 50.02(H), if the condition threatens public health, safety and welfare, a Code Enforcement Officer may order immediate correction at the expense of the person responsible, and the city can recover what it spends.
Why do beach condo trash rooms on A1A smell so bad?
Beach condo trash rooms on A1A smell because the containers are never empty for long and almost never washed. A chute room or a shared dumpster serving a full tower is filling again the same day it is emptied, so the residue on its floor and walls never dries out. Add coastal heat and humidity, a chute that drips into the cart below and a pad outside soaked at every pickup, and that is what greets residents at the door.
What does trash room and dumpster cleaning in Hollywood include?
Trash room and dumpster cleaning by The BinFather covers the containers, the floor or pad they stand on, and the area around the chute opening. We do not work inside the chute shaft or on compactor machinery. Outside, we clean front-load dumpsters, roll carts, cart banks and the enclosure they sit in.
How a visit runs:
- 01We come after collection, when the containers are as empty as they get.
- 02We bring our own water and our own equipment, so nothing is drawn from the building.
- 03We clean the containers inside and out, then the floor or pad under them.
- 04The dirty water goes into a collection tank on our truck or trailer — nothing is left on your property.
Details for boards and managers are on our commercial and dumpster cleaning page. Hollywood homeowners with their own carts can see the Hollywood bin cleaning page instead.
How much does dumpster and trash room cleaning cost in Hollywood?
Dumpster and trash room cleaning for a Hollywood building starts from $99 for a single container. The price changes with how many containers there are, their size and how often they need doing.
A beach tower with a chute room and a bank of carts is a different job from a garden-apartment building with one front-load dumpster, which is why the price follows the job. For individual homes, our residential plans and what each one covers are on the pricing page.
The short version
In Hollywood, Florida, a condo building hires its own hauler, but the city code puts the cleaning on the building: dumpsters and enclosures cleaned after each collection, gates closed, lids shut, pads repaired. Townhouse owners must keep their city carts clean after every pickup. The truck takes the garbage. The smell stays until somebody washes the container and the ground beneath it.
