Who picks up the trash in Cooper City?

Coastal Waste & Recycling picks up Cooper City's garbage and recycling, and Eastern Waste Systems picks up bulk. Coastal's agreement with the city runs for seven years, from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2031, and covers everything except residential bulk.

Questions about service go to the city's Utilities Department, which has a solid waste coordinator, or straight to the haulers. Both are listed on the city's solid waste and recycling page.

How do I find my garbage day in Cooper City?

You find your Cooper City garbage day on the Garbage Collection Map, a zone map linked from the city's solid waste page. Each zone is collected twice a week on a fixed pair of days. A separate Recycling Collection Map shows your recycling day.

Recycling is single-stream: everything recyclable goes loose into one cart, not in bags. If a cart is missing, broken or was skipped, Coastal takes requests through its Cooper City service portal.

When can I put my cart out in Cooper City, and when must it come back?

In Cooper City a cart can go to the swale no earlier than 24 hours before pickup, and code section 8-26 requires it to be removed by 9:00 a.m. the following day. The city's own page asks residents to bring it back the same day.

On collection day the city wants the cart out by 7:00 a.m. at the edge of the street, handle facing the house and lid opening facing the road. Coastal asks for three feet of space around the cart and at least six feet from vehicles, mailboxes, light poles and fences.

Between pickups the cart goes in the garage, behind a fence or hedge, or in the side or rear yard, set back at least as far as the front wall of the house. On a corner lot it belongs in the rear yard or the interior side yard. A first violation is a $150 fine, and a repeat is $250.

When is bulk pickup in Cooper City this fall?

Bulk pickup in Cooper City is monthly, by zone, and the city's official 2026 bulk schedule sets these dates for the rest of the year (neighborhoods are examples from the city's zone map):

  • Monday zone (Country Address, Encore, Cooper Point, Timberlake, Diamond Head, Monterra): October 19, November 16, December 21.
  • Tuesday zone (Embassy Lakes, and Hiatus Road to Palm Avenue south of Stirling Road): October 20, November 17, December 22.
  • Wednesday zone (Rock Creek, and Flamingo Road to Hiatus Road south of Stirling Road): October 21, November 18, December 23.
  • Thursday zone (Summertime Isles, Cooper Colony Estates, Royal Palm Ranches, Lake Marantha): October 22, November 19, December 24.
  • Friday zone (Cooper Village, Cooper Grove, Tanglewood, Pine Lake, Stirling Springs and nearby): October 23, November 20, December 26.
  • Saturday zone (Country Glen, Hibbs' Grove, Forest Lakes, Flamingo Gardens): October 24, November 21, December 26.

The December dates for the Friday and Saturday zones both move to December 26 because of Christmas. Christmas Day is the only holiday without garbage collection; Thanksgiving runs as normal.

Who replaces a lost or broken trash cart in Cooper City?

Coastal Waste & Recycling replaces lost or damaged carts in Cooper City, not the city. Coastal says there is no charge and no police report is needed for a stolen cart. Only city-provided carts are serviced, so a substitute cart will not be emptied.

Why does a Cooper City trash cart smell, even with twice-weekly pickup?

A Cooper City trash cart smells, even with two pickups a week, because collection empties it without cleaning it. The city tells residents to bag all garbage to keep carts clean and odor-free, and that helps. But bags tear, liquid settles in the base, and residue builds on the walls and under the lid. A cart parked in the garage or a shaded side yard, as the code requires, never dries out between pickups.

The fix is to remove that layer. The BinFather cleans carts across Cooper City at the curb, with heated water at high pressure, then sanitizes and deodorizes them, on one of your two garbage days once the truck has emptied the cart. Nobody needs to be home. The dirty water goes into a collection tank on our truck or trailer — nothing is left on your property.

On the monthly plan it is $30 a cleaning with two bins included, or $65 for a one-time clean; see the pricing page, and our Cooper City page for the neighborhoods we serve.

The short version

  • Coastal Waste & Recycling collects garbage twice a week by zone; Eastern Waste Systems collects bulk once a month.
  • Your zone is on the city's Garbage Collection Map; recycling is single-stream, loose in the cart.
  • Carts go out no earlier than 24 hours before pickup and come back by 9:00 a.m. the next day at the latest.
  • Pickup empties the cart, and the code keeps it by the house, so the smell stays close.
